Septic Systems Are Sized By The Number Of Rooms In A
House
1Bedroom = 150 Gallons Per Day

By using this rule of thumb a 3 bedroom house will have a system
designed to handle 450 gallons per day of waste water.

Soil sizing factor is the next thing that comes into play.

Depending in the soil structure and perk rate, here is some
common sizing factors:
1.27 Drain Field
1.67 Drain Field
.83 Mound
1.00 Mound
2.00 Mound

System Sized For Standard Drain Field. For Example:
3 Bedroom House = 450 GPD
Soil Sizing Factor is 1.67
1.67 x 450 GPD = 751.50 Sq. Ft.
751.50 Divided By 3 = 250.50 lin. Ft Drain Field Trench 3' wide

System Sized For Standard Mound. For Example:
3 Bedroom House = 450 GPD
Soil Sizing Factor is .83
.83 x 450 GPD = 373.50 Sq. Ft.
Rock Bed Size On Mound Will Then Be 10' x 38'
